It's a Girl!

Paul has announced on goodcharlotte.com that he and his wife are expecting a baby girl! In his blog he says," A baby girl is joining the Thomas and GC family in October. Just wanted to share with you guys, being my extended family and all. 2010 is gonna be a big year. A baby, a new record, and I'm turning 30!! I'm super excited and I can't wait to meet her!"

Some Changes

You can now add your twitter, tumblr and facebook links to your profile. Go to Account > My Account > Edit Bio

Also, I'm sorry for those who have tried to contact the site in the past with no answer. I've reset the contact form to go to my profile, so if you need help with the site, fill out the contact form to send an email to me directly.

New Skin

Customize the new "Hue" skin by selecting a color on the top right of your screen. Color choices include orange, pink, aqua, green and gray.

Please be patient while I add back the features and work out the kinks :) Comment here if you spot an error.

GCFF Submission Rules

The submission rules can be found here:

All of these rules are important. However, I want to focus on #3:

Authors should submit a maximum of three chapters for any one story at any given time. By submitting more than three chapters, you risk having those chapters automatically deleted or even your entire story removed from the site.

Since some authors are neglecting to check their emails, I'm just putting it out there that I WILL delete your entire story not just the chapters in the queu. No more warnings.

(as a side note - we aren't accepting MSTs anymore. I know its still talked about in the rules... but we aren't.)

Are you a writer?

Out of curiosity, are there any other fandoms that you guys like to write about? I tend to get inspired the most whenever I watch a movie. Are there any other sites beside the big one, FF.net, that you like to go to post/read other stories?

Regarding Submissions...

I just want to remind authors that the individuals that run and help out the with the site are merely volunteers and can't be online 24/7. Please be patient and we'll get to your stories as soon as we can :)

Billy and Linzi welcome a son!

Good Charlotte guitarist Billy Martin and his wife Linzi, a hairstylist, have welcomed a son, the rocker tells PEOPLE exclusively. Dreavyn Kingslee Martin was born on Jan. 26 in Pasadena, Calif. He is the first child for the couple. "Mom is doing great, baby is healthy," Martin tells PEOPLE. "I couldn't ask for anything more." Adds Martin: "It is hands down the most amazing thing that has ever happened in my life. We can see so much of my wife and I in him already!" Martin, 27, is the second member of Good Charlotte to become a father – singer Joel Madden and girlfriend Nicole Richie welcomed daughter Harlow a year ago. After announcing Linzi's pregnancy last September, Martin told PEOPLE they were planning an Alice's Adventures in Wonderland-themed nursery. Martin and his wife Linzi, 25, will celebrate their first wedding anniversary – and ninth year as a couple – on March 1. Up next for Martin, an accomplished painter and illustrator with his own T-shirt line, Level 27: a new Good Charlotte album followed by a children's book that he wrote and illustrated called Damious McDreary: A Boy and his Bat, which will be released this fall.

How is 2009 treating all of you so far? The past year, I kept hearing about the recession, only now am I really starting to feel it. It’s a scary feeling when coworkers start to get laid off one by one around you and you can’t help but wonder, ‘Am I next?’ It’s enough to make one paranoid. It’s important, though, to remain positive. If you, a friend, or a family member has lost their job just remember you aren’t alone. Don’t give up hope! We’re all in this together. It may take a while, but we’ll get back up on our feet eventually.

Cut up the credit cards, curb your spending so you’re only buying what’s completely necessary (this is a good time for you smokers to quit if you’ve been wanting to), take advantage of the coupons in your newspapers, and allow yourself to imagine a brighter world through reading, watching your favorite movies, listening to your favorite CDs, or whatever it is you do that keeps you smiling!

I’m going to step away from the podium now - but, before I do, what are your verdicts for Greatest Remixes? On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the best?

Good Charlotte's Greatest Remixes to hit stores on Tuesday!

With the release of Good Charlotte’s fifth album, Greatest Remixes, slated to hit stores in three days – I wonder, will this be the last of Good Charlotte we’ll ever see? As with any greatest hits release, you have to wonder (they “remixed” the phrase ‘greatest hits’ to ‘greatest remixes’ to cover up the fact that it is, in a roundabout way, a greatest hits album). It always makes me nervous. Let’s hope I’m wrong. Admittedly, the guys and I have had a little fall out, but from what I’ve heard of the new album, I’m willing to make amends.

It’s a fresh outlook for some old tired songs. I’m a little disappointed they don’t have any new material to speak of though. They only have five albums to speak of as twelve years as a band (correct me if I’m wrong). Maybe it’s a little unfair to compare them to MxPx who, having been together sixteen years, have been way more active in the studio having released over seven full-lengths, four EPs, three compilation CDs, and one live album… and are in the studio once again recording an eighth full-length (MxPx fans you shouldn’t miss it, the entire process is being broadcast live via stickam, you’ll find me in the chat as KVicious… Mike calls me KV). But, included in MxPx’s resume is a greatest hits CD, so maybe this isn’t the end for Good Charlotte after all. One can only hope!

I hope to see some familiar and fresh faces in the forum soon to discuss the new album. I’d love to hear your thoughts. Hopefully it will do to you what the anticipation has me – lit a fire under my rear and the writing bug has returned.

Just A Little Reminder.

This is just a quick little reminder for those who seem to have problems with their stories being validated. Chapters are never "just deleted" without a reason. Every chapter that is rejected has a rejection letter that is sent to your e-mail. If you've been experiencing problems with receiving your rejection e-mails, please check the e-mail you have registered with your GCFF account. If you have an updated e-mail listed on this site, it will save everyone a lot of trouble.

Motivation Proclamation

Hey loves! Remember that old school GC song "Motivation Proclamation"? The question begs to be asked: How do you stay motivated (to write, and though they are a huge motivator... we're excluding reviews :P)? What keeps those ideas flowing? I remember, in an anime community I used to be a part of, we motivated each other with fanart and gave each other cameos in our stories.

Do share. I'm sure I'm not the only one who needs a push :P.

New Skin

Opinions? Validaters?

So GCFF is coming up on it's 4 year anniversary (can you believe it?) and thinking back, the site has definitely had its fair share of ups and downs. So here's my question to you: What, if anything, would you like to see added/changed to the site? Oh, and this excludes answering quicker validation times of course :)

Speaking of, if you are interested in becoming one, please drop me a line through the contact form. You MUST be a writer so I can get a feel for how well you deal with spelling/grammer. No exceptions. You must be able to dedicate time on a regular basis to check the site for updates, at least once a day. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

New Ratings

So there isn't any confusion, I wanted to let everyone know that there is a new rating system:

Everyone: General stories that are acceptable for all ages.

Teen: Mild subject matter. May contain some language and/or violence.

Mature: Contains situations not suitable for younger readers. Nothing too descriptive.

Adult: This rating should be selected if your story contains multiple warnings, meaning you have a lot of mature subject matter.

Explicit: All PWP, Smut, etc. should be placed here.

Admin Appreciation

I think everyone should some love to Christine and Tracy for continuing to keep GCFanfics open. These two rock! One of the ways you can do this is to continue to do what you're doing, submitting stories and reviewing the work of others.

I don't know if anyone's ever thought of this, but reviewing others stories advertises your own. The author who you left a review to may decide to read your stories and return the favor, so review your tushes off!

A reminder :-)

Remember that this is a Good Charlotte fansite. The band consists of Billy, Paul, Dean, Benji, and Joel. Not Zacky Vengeance or Synyster Gates. Just wanted to clear up the confusion for those of you that seem to think otherwise :P.

New Skin

A new default skin has been released. All members will be moved over to the new skin by the end of the day. Not all design kinks are worked out as I'm still working on it, so if you see any flaws, please help me out by letting me know.

MSTs

Hey guys, I just wanted to inform you that we are no longer accepting MSTs. The line between a constructive MST and an abusive MST has always been a bit fuzzy so it has been decided that it is best to leave them out all together.

Sorry to disappoint anyone... but... hey... its better to focus on building up your skills as a writer than tearing someone else down, right? Speaking of which, if you want a few pointers, there’s a writing guide posted on the gcff forum for anyone who is interested. You are welcome to add feedback or questions to it.

MIA Stories/Chapters?

Follow these steps:

1. Click on the "Manage Stories" link under your account.

2. Under the "Validated" column it will either say yes or no, depending on if your story has yet to be approved or not.

2A. If yes, your story has been posted. The end.
2B. If no, your story is still in the queue. The end.
2C. Not listed at all? It's been rejected and deleted. Continue to step 3.

3. Check your email for a rejection letter.

3A. Oh, there it is! Now I will fix my story.
3B. WTF there's nothing! Not even in my junk mail! Well, continue to step 4.

4. Add admin [at] gcfanfics.com to your safelist, especially if you use hotmail.

5. Resubmit, but attempt to fix your story first. Don't just resubmit it for the sake of finding out what's wrong. Paste that baby into Word and pay attention to all the red/green squiggly lines.
